Index. 220 pages. Decorated cloth boards with Art Nouveau thistle design, gilt titles front and spine; top edge gilt; other edges rough cut. 10 tipped-in illustrations reproduced from water-colour drawings painted specially for this work by, R.S.A. All plates are present in pristine condition each with a heavy tissue guard with caption and text print of Scott's verse. Frontispiece has tiny fold (1mm )right hand corner. Text block is clean with a few very light foxing marks; no tears or folds. Free endpaper has tiny inked writing and a block tan mark left presumably by a laid in paper. Boards are bumped with light soiling and fading; binding is firm. From Crockett's preface: "There is no need for a new Life of Scott...[this] is for those who desire to have recorded the salient features respecting Sir Walter and his Land.
