About This Item

London (1975): Weidenfeld and Nicolson. First UK Edition. Octavo. 236pp. A Vietnam War veteran, Haldeman critiques the futility of war through the description of future war with an alien race lasting more than 1000 years. Considered one of the most important military science fiction books ever published, as well as one of the most important books on Vietnam, it won the Hugo, Nebula and Locus awards. It's a cornerstone of any science fiction collection. A fine copy bound in purple cloth, spine lettering gilt, in a fine unclipped dust jacket. Very nice.

Synopsis

The Forever War is a 1974 science fiction novel by Joe Haldeman. It won the Nebula Award in 1975, and both the Hugo and Locus Awards in 1976. An action-laden and contemplative story of an interstellar war between humanity and the enigmatic Tauran species, it deals with themes like the inhumanity of war and bureaucracy, as well as with the results of time dilation space travel which may cause a soldier to return to his home after centuries have passed.
