About This Item

Nelson and Saunders,. Hardback. 337pp. Lettice Curtis was possibly the most experienced WW2 female pilot plying everything from spitfires and Hurricanes to heavy bombers like the Lancaster, to deliver them to the front line air squadrons. Here she tells the story of these pilots often flying alone and unarmed and using maps to navigate the landscape. This special edition illustrated envelope is signed by both Lettice Curtis and Sir Peter Mursell to teh front and has two clear franks postmarking the envelope to 1st December 1979. The back of the envelope assigned by FlLt F. W. Waters of the RAF Musem certifying this as number 401 of 1488. the FDC was sent to Fl Lt Waters and bears his address to the front. The envelope contains three information cards about Lettice Curtis, Sir Peter Mursell and the ATA as well as two photographs of Curtis and Munsell. the envelope also includes some Concorde branding. Lettice Curtis was an enthusiastic supporter of concorde project; her Concorde Club number was 151. Curtis continued flying till she was 80 and lived to be 99. Book is very clean and neat.
