Many interesting articles include one on the International Cement Company and one on the silk industry in Japan. Striking advertisements for: Sterling Matthews cruiser, Bermuda, Ever ready batteries, World Peaceways (anti-war), Packard and other automobiles. The cover by Roger Duvoisin is of a silk worm and moth. Founded by Henry Luce (who had, with partner Briton Hadden, founded Time magazine in 1923), Luce declared of Fortune magazine that "American business has importance - even majesty - so the magazine in which we are able to interpret it will look and feel important - even majestic." .
