Back cover and spine faded. Whitish watermarks on back cover bottom outside corners. Slightly wear to spine head, spine foot and cover corners. Joints between page 10 and page 11 slightly cracked but holding. A few foxing, otherwise in very good condition. Written by Brigadier general Oong chao huau (Weng zhaoyuan), the Nineteenth Route Army of China, under whose guidance the 156th brigade gallantly defended first Chapei and Woosung forts. Translated by Ai Fang Y. Lin. This scarce book is respectfully dedicated to those who sacrificed their lives during the Sino-Japanese conflict in Shanghai., showing historical records of what happened during the months of the fighting since 28th January, 1932. Weng Zhaoyuan (Weng Chao-yüan) (1892 - 1972) was famed defender of Shanghai's Wusong Harbor. After receiving a hero's welcome, Weng delivered a speech proclaiming that China's resistance against Japan must never cease: "China today is not the China of centuries ago.
