THE FOUNTAINHEAD by AYN RAND - 1976

The Fountainhead is a 1943 novel by the Russian-American author Ayn Rand (Alisa Zinovyevna Rosenbaum 1905-1982), and her first major literary success. More than 6.5 million copies of The Fountainhead have been sold worldwide and it has been translated into more than 20 languages.

The novel's protagonist, Howard Roark, is an individualistic young architect who designs modernist buildings and refuses to compromise with an architectural establishment unwilling to accept innovation. Roark embodies what Rand believed to be the ideal man, and his struggle reflects Rand's belief that individualism is superior to collectivism.

A 25th anniversary edition was published in 1968, as the 33rd printing of the first edition. This copy was printed in 1976, and is the stated 37th printing of the first edition.

The cover of the dust jacket bears the original painting done for the book, by Rand's husband, the American artist Frank O'Connor. There is a full-page copy of that painting in the book.

The dust jacket has been clipped and there is a little shelf-wear at the top.

The book is gray boards with black and brilliant silver trim.

It has not been read. The spine is un-cracked and there are no marks of any kind in it or on it.
