With an introduction and notes by P.D. Edwards. A volume in the World's Classics edition of The Barsetshire Novels, published by Oxford University Press (1989). The fourth of six Barsetshire titles, the novel was immensely popular when it first appeared in 1860 and cemented Trollope's place as a favorite with the English reading public. No previous ownership marks. A clean, square, fresh and unmarked copy, pristine and like new. Fine in a fine dust-jacket. .
Synopsis
When young Mark Robarts was leaving college, his father might well declare that all men began to say all good things to him, and to extol his fortune in that he had a son blessed with an excellent disposition. This father was a physician living at Exeter. He was a gentleman possessed of no private means, but enjoying a lucrative practice, which had enabled him to maintain and educate a family with all the advantages which money can give in this country.
