The front board and spine show very little handling but the rear board has a few shallow indentations, up near the upper left corner area, the lower outside corner area of this board also has a bit of loss to the finish of the cloth along with the letter B seen in the finish at the corner. The overall binding of the text portion of the pages is good but there are some holes at both the front and rear hinge boards, possibly from insects. This book contains multiple signatures and date by the original owner, Miss Sallie E. Robinson, who was a very prominent African-American from the Philadelphia area. Her signature appears on the front and rear end pages, the rear pastedown, and the first rear blank end page. There are perhaps 5-10 pages with light pencil marks. These may be easily erased if desired. The title page contains a label over the publisher's name stating "Austin Jenkins Co., Washington DC". The backside of the half title page contains a list of The American Crisis Biographies publications and contains 24 titles. There is also a hinge crack at this area where the webbing can be seen.
