Antipodes, 1900. - Two albumen prints - mounted on the recto and verso of an oblong of grey card. One side showing The Gap and South Head at Watsons Bay in the eastern suburbs of Sydney, Australia (circa 1903); and on the other side a view of the town of Hobart, Tasmania (from Lansdowne Crescent) taken by John Watt Beattie. - Two collodion paper prints showing the harbour of Lyttelton, New Zealand by an unknown photographer, and a landscape view across the Bealey near Christchurch, New Zealand taken by E. Wheeler & Son - these also mounted on the recto and verso of an oblong of grey card. - One unmounted collodion paper print is of the Waimangu Geyser, which is located near Rotorua, New Zealand. This says JM2070 on the front - and possibly refers to the James Ingram McDonald (the painter, photographer, filmmaker, museum director, cultural ambassador, film censor, and promoter of Maori arts and crafts) and may have been taken whilst he was employed by the New Zealand Government Tourist Department in… Read More

Small spot to the top of the front board is the only mark to the boards. Biographies and descriptions of paintings. Numerous black and white examples of artworks. Nice clean condition, with some age toning and moderate darkening to the page edges. Thomas Patrick Bodkin (1887–1961) was an Irish lawyer, art historian, art collector and curator. Bodkin was Director of the National Gallery of Ireland. 236 pages. 210 x 170 mm (8¼ x 6¾ inches).

1869. Two fabulous original watercolours. Each shows a soldier sitting upon a rock. One shows a cavalry officer in full Cuirassier with sabre. The second is probably from a Dragoon regiment. Beautifully coloured and represented. Slight edgewear with nicking to the edges. Each is signed A. Gire to the bottom right corner. One is also dated 1869. Each measures: 440 x 300 mm (17¼ x 11¾ inches). Deux fabuleuses aquarelles originales. Chacun montre un soldat assis sur un rocher. L'une montre un officier de cavalerie en plein cuirassier au sabre. Le second provient probablement d'un régiment de dragons. Magnifiquement coloré et représenté. Légère usure des bords avec entailles sur les bords. Chacun est signé A. Gire dans le coin inférieur droit. L'un est également daté de 1869. Chacun mesure : 440 x 300 mm

Bruxelles, 1936. Scarce dry-point etching of Saint George slaying the dragon. Copy # 1 of 75. Sadly there are two tears which have been repaired with clear tape to the margins. Only one slightly creeps on to actual image. Otherwise in a very good, clean condition. Blank to verso. Image size: 290 x 235 mm. Total sheet size: 560 x 370 mm (22 x 14½ inches). Elisabeth Ivanovsky, was a Moldova born Belgian painter and illustrator. Best known for her children's book illustrations, her work drew inspiration from Russian traditions, and avant-garde art.
