Includes much on Saint-Domingue (today Haiti) and Santo Domingo (today the Dominican Republic); French politician, Antoine Pierre Joseph Marie Barnave (1761-1793); and the "Mulatto Question." Based on the author's 1910 doctoral dissertation at Cornell University. With annotated bibliography.
