Limited to 75 copies with this being numbered 63 and signed by the editor on the colophon page. 11 1/2 x 8 1/2 inches: pp. 258. Quarter linen cloth over illustrated gray boards. Cover titles in black with red toned oval illustration of gold miners. Spine titles in gold gilt. With index. Two plates, text illustration. Endpaper maps, Quarto.
Inner and outer hinges have evidence of glue browning. Otherwise unmarked, clean, solid and tight. Housed in black cardboard slipcase which is in near fine condition. Dubec left France for California and remained there until his death in 1897, and owned and operated a French newspaper in California. This book consists of thirteen letters written from 1850-1851 describing the events of the Gold Rush. An excellent an informative introduction preceeds the letters, which are also annotated.
