About This Item
(Subject: World War II - General) Mass market paperback. Creasing on spine but very good. The author jumped from a train carrying POW's in 1943 having been in captivity for over a year. Italian anti-fascists harboured and fed him, first in a remote mountain village and then in Rome itself. For months he posed as a deaf-mute and member of the Fascist Youth in order to dodge German patrols and the Italian secret Police until the liberation of Rome brought GI's flooding onto the streets. (Published: 1989) (Publisher: Grafton (Paperbacks)) (ISBN: 0586204318) (Pagination: 269pp ills) (Condition: ) UL-XXXXXX
