New York: Covici Friede, 1928. First. hardcover. Fine/Fine. A stunning and important first edition, fine in a fine dust jacket. 1928 on title page and no mention of later printings on copyright page. Original price of $2.00 on front flap, along with quotes of reviews on the play, which premiered in 1928 on Broadway. This is the first published appearance of the script of the play. Housed in a custom-made collector's slipcase. One of the rarest first edition dust jackets in any condition in modern literature. The play has also been produced as many successful movies, including the classic His Girl Friday directed by Howard Hawkes starring Cary Grant and Rosalind Russell in 1940 and later as The Front Page directed by Billy Wilder and starring Jack Lemmon and Walter Mathau.
