About This Item
John Wiley & Sons, Milton, Queensland, 2004. First Edition. Softcover (Photographic). Very Good Condition. Illustrator: Photographic. Introduction by author, acknowledgements and sources at the end of each chapter there are chapter notes. Illustrated end pages  In a yellow coloured stock, with a map showing Anzac sector, Gallipoli 1915 on the end pages. The text is illustrated with 32 pages of black-and-white photographs. Photographic paperback binding with gold, black and pale yellow coloured titles to the front panel and black and pale yellow coloured titles to the back strip. The biography of this remarkable Australian, who was the last surviving Australian Gallipoli veteran at the time of the books' writing; who spent time at Anzac Cove in 1915, and who returned and went bush as a drover and jackaroo, became an active unionist and a committed Republican and socialist. Living with the injuries sustained at Gallipoli, he devoted much of his working life to helping others with disabilities. He epitomises the Australasian larrikin and reluctant hero. Rubbing of the book edges and of the panels and remnants of a sticker can be seen to the top right-hand corner of the front panel. Tanning of the text block edges and pages. Full number line.
