About This Item

New York : Meigher Communications, 1996. 1st Edition 1st Printing. Soft cover. Near Fine. 4to - over 9¾ - 12" tall. Near Fine. See scans and description. Box-shipped; no bags here. New York: Meigher Communications, 1996. The August-September, 1996 issue of the rather beautiful Garden Design magazine. Quarto, illustrated perfect-bound wraps, 130 pp. Cover: Brugmansia x candida, photographed by Maura McEvoy. One thin hairline scratch at letter "D" in title (scan), else a brand squeaky new example, flawless in every other way. See scans. Even all the loose-laid cardstock subscription offers remain untouched and in place, as is a sealed sample of Ceylon Isabell perfume, still in place and presumably still usable after lo these many years. Certainly a candidate for the best-illustrated publication in its genre and its time - both photographically and with art. Not to mention its ads, somewhat more splashy and elegant than those in other genre titles. Some topics in this issue are Grappling with Grapes; Chelsea Flower Show; Borage; Garden Self-Expression; 260-pound Melon; Topiaries; and an impressive My Garden section, with pointers and pics from a bunch of leading gardeners such as Suzanne Lipschutz, John Saladino and several others, making this a serious name-dropping issue. There's more, of course - all of it with dazzling graphics, many of which will inspire your own ideas, and even superlative ads to browse. Scarce in any condition, and a genuine genre collectible in this Near-Fine-but really-As-New grade. See all scans. LPR13
