This miniature hardback volume was printed as a practical manual to assist wartime gardeners in the successful cultivation of aromatic plants which are useful in the household. It includes sections on the sage, parsley, tarragon, and allium families, as well as a section on herbal essences and a garden calendar. There is information on growing, harvesting, drying and using herbs. A fascinating read for gardeners, herbalists or those with an interest in wartime England.
This book is in good condition given its age, with some soiling to cover, a bend at front corners, and some browning of pages at edges. It is an ex library book and has the remnants of an envelope for a borrower's card inside back cover, as well as a small library stamp on title page and a Dewey number in black ink on the spine. A previous repair to the spine has been made with adhesive tape. Please see photos.
