From the Dust Jacket: In 1877 Charles Cayzer owned one sailing vessel of 635 tons and had a staff of one. By 1939 the sons of Sir Charles Cayzer, Baronet of Gartmore, owned and managed the largest dry-cargo shipping company in e world with a deadweight tonnage of over 600,000 tons. Clan Line Steamers Ltd was a major shipping company that was held in the highest regard and affection by all who sailed in their ships with the famous twin red bands on their funnel.
