First gathering loosened, a few leaves creased. Very good. Second Edition. Engraved title vignette, 12 engraved plates with contemporary hand coloring. Pp. [4], 35. 1 vols. Square 8vo. Illustrated handbook of poisonous plants, including henbane, thorn apple (datura), water hemlock, ergot, deadly amanitas, false chanterelle, etc. With brief account of various incidents of poisoning in Bohemia. The appendix treats subjects such as arsenic, rabies, suffocation, and the purification of long sealed wells upon reopening.
The full page handcolored plates give the German and Czech names for the plants and mushrooms.
Rare and interesting. Not in the relevant bibliographies. Not in OCLC (3 locations only for first ed.)
