A handsomely bound, fascinating work on the history of Somerset published and printed locally by the Somerset and Bristol Steam Press. Handsomely bound in half calf with gilt lettering and design to the spine. A fascinating and comprehensive history of Somerset, with a special focus on the Valley of the Tone and Taunton, previously housed in the Somerset Library. Photographic plates are missing from this copy. Written by Edward Jeboult, a lifetime resident of Somerset and a noted land surveyor.This copy was previously owned by William Bucknell Broadmead, and his bookplate is to the front pastedown. He was a noted High Sheriff in the early twentieth century, and owner of Enmore Castle in Somerset. Handsomely bound in half calf with morocco covered boards. Externally, front joint is cracked but still holding firm. Rubbing to the head and tail of the spine and extremities. Some marks to the boards. Internally, front hinge is has failed but board is still attached. Book is firmly bound. Foxing to the first and last few pages and some light scattered spotting throughout. Good Only
