London: Printed for the Author by A. Hamilton, 1767. Hardcover. ex library-fair. 400 p. 22 cm. Frontispiece engraving, portrait of Guthrie, and numerous other portrait engravings. Full leather. Ex library with ink stamps on text block edges and verso of title, label on front pastedown, blind stamp on title page. Front board held on with tape. Front free endpaper and title page have been amateurishly repaired with same tape. Boards scuffed and bumped. Pages are clean, neat and entirely legible.

London: William Guthrie / A. Hamilton, 1767. Hardcover. Good. Frontispiece And Portraits Throughout, Some By Isaac Taylor. 400 Pp Including Unpaginated Introduction. Vellum Spine With With Publisher's Handwritten Title, But 1/4" Strip Missing From Top To Bottom At Center Of Spine; Marbled Boards, Worn Through At Much Of Edges, But Vellum Intact Aside From The Missing Strip; Appears To Be The Original Binding. Very Clean, Ecept Some Evenly Foxed Areas Within The Printed Parts Of Some Pages, And Some Offsetting From Plates. The Last Work By The Journalist And Historian, Accorded Some Respect By Johnson For His Work But This Particular History Is Considered Inaccurate, Particularly For The Earlier Periods.
