Description:
The binding is in excellent condition. The text block is excellent - solid, unmarked, with no foxing. All text pages and colour plates in very good condition. A light library reference mark is on the spine. The front flyleaf has library stamps and a roughly horizonal tear more than half way across. See my many photographs.
Fisher made enormous contributions to the mathematics of statistics. He was also convinced that Darwin's theory of evolution by the accumulation of small changes over eons was correct. In the first part of this book he shows that Bateson's idea of speciation by large genetic jumps is hugely improbable.
A mathematical milestone in the study of genetics and a classic in evolution theory.

Description:
Italia: n.p., 1835. Very Good. 19 cm; 20 pages (three blank), including 7 full-page illustrations with captions. Text and illustrations lithographed throughout. Bound in (later?) plain wraps. Not in Melzi. No copies located. Apparently unrecorded booklet with text and illustrations produced completely in lithograph. The text reproduces an italic calligraphy that must have been lettered in reverse on stone, or written out on transfer paper before being applied to the lithographic stone. The narrative concerns a lady who is handily juggling simultaneous affairs with a young man and with the young man's father.

Description:Description: A very early detailed exposition of Genetic Theory. Includes translations of Mendel's papers at the end of the book.I believe this is a first edition, first printing, 1909. See photo - verso of tittle page states "Printed by John Clay at the University Press" only.Text block solid, inside hinges intact, with minimal foxing and all colour plates/tissue protectors intact. Cracking of the cover cloth at front and back hinge. Back cover has bottom corner bent and cracked. Creasing on bottom right of front cover. See my photographs. A clean copy - no owners names, stamps etc. throughout. Minimal foxing. Bateson was one of the rediscoverers of Mendel's neglected publications in 1900. He became an advocate for Mendelism in Britian. Today, it is clear that there is no conflict between the ideas of Mendel and those of Darwin. However, Bateson was not a "Darwinian" in that he did not believe in gradual change over eons was the true story of evolution. He was convinced that, if…
