London: printed for D. Henry and R. Cave at St. John's Gate, 1759. 1st Edition. Hard Cover. Good. Included are maps of the French Indian war at Quebec and Crown Point (New York).

First edition. 8-1/2 x 5-1/2 inches, (6),[3]-643 pp. including the year-end supplement and 17pp. index. Original leather spine cracked at hinges, five raised bands with original red label present.

Original marbled paper-covered boards with moderate to heavy edge wear, well worn especially at corners. Pages clean inside with age toned paper. Most folding plates with a tear near gutter as well as occasional unintended folds. January to December 1759, 12 monthly issues.

Original 1759 accounts and maps of the French Indian war at Quebec and Crown Point (New York). Included are 3 maps relating to above topic ;

1) the Island of Orleans with the Environs of Quebec [issued within a month of the surrender of Quebec] and

2) An Authentic Plan of the River St. Laurence from Sillery to the Falls of Montmorency.

3) The third map is of the Country between Crown Point and Fort Edward, showing Ticonderoga and Lake George (New York). All three of the French and Indian war maps (and articles) are in very good condition.

Some of the other maps include: Compleat Map of Germany (dated 1759), A Map of Martinico, The Road of Toulon, Map of the Seat of War on the Rhine, Map of Guadaloupe, Plan of Havre de Grace, Plan of the Battle of Thornhausen, Map of Pomerania and Brandenburg. Illustrated with 21of the 23 Listed Full-page & Fold-out plates including Maps, Plans and Illustrations (Plates XXI Tattershall Castle and Plate XXII The Syren are both missing.

The magazine also contains interesting articles including instructions for making wine in America, an account of the first volume of Linnaeus's Systema Naturae, China is an Egyptian Colony, the conclusion of the multiple part series of the Life of Mary Queen of Scots, news from the war in Europe and East Indies, science,. Also included are letters from readers, stories, music, poetry, foreign affairs, Marriages, Births, Deaths, book reviews, stock prices, etc. A fascinating read of historical event in 1759.
