Cheshire House, 1931. First Edition. Hardcover. Good/No Jacket. Folio - over 12" - 15" tall. VG/VG- in leather/boards (wear to spine/slipcase; some external rubbing). Small folio [6]xiii[3]182+ Reprinting of the 1697 first folio edition (by Tonson) of John Dryden's works; with the illustrations, plus Dryden's introductory essay and commentaries. One of 1200 numbered copies (the entire edition), designed and printed by Richard Ellis, and issued in observance of Virgil's 2000th anniversary and the Dryden tercentenary. Bound in half tan calf over light brown boards, plain endpapers, fore and bottom edges untrimmed (lacks spine proper and with wear to leading edges; upper and lower portion of origin al publisher's slipcase).20 Engraved Illustrations.
