"Paisley patterns - based on the familiar tear-drop motif - originated in India before the rise of the Roman Empire, & paisley shawls have been made ther for centuries. The motif was used in European textiles as early as 1780. Since then, paisley textiles have enjoyed periodic revivals. The paterns in this book were designed in Scotland & France in the early nineteenth century & represent paisley at its mosts refined & sophisticated." Check out the scans. . 1st Edition. Soft Cover.
