About This Item
Very Good Condition/None. Glacier National Park and the New Logan Pass Detour, Great Northern Railroad, circa 1934.
Green-toned photographic staple-bound wrappers with 28 unnumbered pages. 8 x 9 inches. Previous owners name in pencil on front wrapper. 1/2-inch tear to base of back wrapper. Clean interior. Most common to find these booklets with a vertical fold--this one has never been folded. Very Good Condition.
Pamphlet filled with tour suggestions, horse trips, camping tips, auto tour suggestions and lodging ideas.
Buried within the booklet is the announcement of the completion of the "Logan Pass Detour", now known as the "Going to the Sun Highway" one of the more beautiful and dramatic roads in any national park. This highway opened in 1933 and dates this pamphlet to sometime after the opening of the road.
"Starting at Going-to-the-Sun Chalets, riders would go to and spend nights at Many Glacier, Granite Chalet, Lake McDonald, Sperry Chalet, and then back to Going-to-the-Sun Chalets. This tour can also be started from Many-Glacier or Lake McDonald Hotel."
A very uncommon National Park promotional pamphlet published by Great Northern Railroad.
