Edinburgh.: W. & A.K. Johnson.. No date. Ca. 1890.. Atlas 10 1/4 x 7 1/2 inches featuring 37 tipped-in folded color maps on sheets 10 x 13 1/2 inches. Atlas features 3/4 leather binding. Corners are severely bumped and leather covering to spine is missing. Maps are identified on lower left corner as comprising the "Globe Encyclopedia Atlas." Map of Western States shows Dakota as an entity (prior to being split into North and South in 1889) while Indian Territory is a complete entity (Oklahoma became a portion of Indian Territory in 1890, eventually subsuming the entire Territory’s identity with statehood in 1907.) These configurations support a circa 1890 date of publication for the Atlas. Atlas is tightly bound with maps in very good clean condition; as they are tipped-in they are fully accessible to the reader. An uncommon Atlas; WorldCat shows only three library holdings. .
