About This Item
London, Michael Joseph, 1962. . First edition, first impression, signed by the author; 8vo; minor offsetting to endpapers, else unmarked internally; publisher's black cloth, gilt lettering to spine, light spotting to fore-edge, with the unclipped dustjacket, minor edge-wear, hint of fading to spine, else near-fine.
Signed first edition of the author's masterpiece, and one of the greatest South African novels of the 20th century.
This first edition was produced in a larger format than Lessing's other works of that vintage and, as a result, the top edges on most copies typically exhibit wear. On the present example this wear is trivial and this remains a much superior copy.
