Lincoln, Ne: Bison Book, University of Nebraska Press, 1970. One of the Regents Renaissance Drama series. Pages clean, unmarked, binding tight and square. Covers mostly clean, colors bright, spine and extremities with a little edge and general wear. An English play by Thomas Sackville and Thomas Norton from 1562. It was performed before Queen Elizabeth I on January 18 of that year, by the Gentlemen of the Inner Temple. The play is notable for several reasons: as the first verse drama in English to employ blank verse; for its political subject matter; for its manner, progressing from the models of the morality play and Senecan tragedy in the direction which would be followed by later playwrights. It can be seen as a forerunner of the trend that would later produce King Lear. Media Mail, Priority & most international shipping include free tracking information.
