The Second Vakhtang Karseladze Memorial Tournament was a tournament held in Gori a city in eastern Georgia, which serves as the regional capital of Shida Kartli and the center of the administrative district held January 8 through the 28th 1971. It attracted fourteen contestants. Finishing in order was Eduard Gufeld clear first with 10 of 13 a full point ahead of the two second place finishers, Igor V Platonov and Semen Abramovich Furman. Half point behind them was shared fourth and fifth with Roman Dzindzichashvili and Mikhail Podgaets. Sole six was Leonid Stein with eight. Vladimir A Savon was a half point behind, followed by Bukhuti Gurgenidze a half point behind him. In ninth was Zurab Mikadze with 6.5. In descending order of finishing was Ubivala 4.5, Bokuchava 4, Aleksandrija tied with Cagua with 3.5 and Kutarashvili at 1.5.
