About This Item

Barse & Hopkins. NY., 1920 This is a hand made high school year book assembled by Marjorie Vogelgesang of Gilman City, Missouri. She graduated in 1925. Book size about 6 by 9 1/2 inches. Bound in limp brown leather with front cover gilt lettering. One of those early Yearbooks where the publisher provided an outline of what to enter in the book and then the student filled-in the book in whatever manner they chose. This is a superior example of the type with student names, printed programs, writings from classmates , party invitations, fancy napkins, press notices, photographs, various programs related to school work, and much else. The book is so crammed with various material that the binding is severely strained in places. About 30 photos pasted in, some with written captions. I could say this is rare, but it is actually unique, one of a kind, as are all these old hand-made yearbooks. It is impossible to properly describe this book there is so much in here--and even the five photos I have included with the listing just touch on the contents. A reference book for Women's Studies showing how the young girl of the 1920's was educated. The book is crammed beyond the capability of the binding and is about two inches thick. This is one volume in a collection of some 65 of these old Yearbooks ranging from the late 1800's to the 1930's mostly from the Midwest which will be in my book seller catalog titled 'Women'. Paper facing to the front and rear covers damaged; end papers damaged; usual wear and tear from constant handling while being assembled. VERY GOOD Language: eng Language: eng Language: eng. Signed by Author. 1st Edition.. Soft cover. Very Good/No Jacket.
