Light rubbing/bubbling to the cloth covers. Scarce.

[iv], ii, 23, [3] pp. Half-title, frontispiece U.S. postage stamp of Steinbeck within a red-ruled border, 3 drawings by Eric Sawyer, initial H in red on the colophon; text clean, unmarked, the postage stamp is present but loose. Patterned paper over boards, printed paper front cover label; binding square and tight, extra glue in front and rear end-papers cause adhering and offsetting. Good. Printed by Roger Hilleary on a Columbian hand press. Text hand set in Eric Gill's Joanna italic with display types in Joanna roman and Perpetua. This book was printed on the occasion of the issue of the John Steinbeck commemorative postage stamp, used as the frontispiece. Monterey CA: Monte Regio Press, 2001. First Edition Limited to 36 copies. Original cloth. 16mo; 35, (3)pp. Illustarted with frontis and one other photograph of Baron von Huegel. 'Thirty-six copies were printed on Wausau Vellum Opaque paper by the designer, Roger Hilleary, with the assistance of David Salinas. Hand-set Joanna types were used for the text and Perpetua for display. A folio-size Columbian handpress was used. It was manufactured by A. Seggie in Edinburgh during the 1860's. This is copy number: 6' --Colophon. A Fine copy in burgundy leatherette with paper label to upper board and spine.
