Published simultaneously in the Leading Countries of the World, April 12, 1930 - "first edition". Clean dark blue cloth boards with unchipped gold lettering on spine. No bumping or fraying. Binding is tight and square, hinges are sound - no cracking. Pages are clean with clean endpapers - no names, writing or marks. Photo portrait frontispiece of Georges Clemenceau. Translated from the French by F. M. Atkinson. Foreword by the author. 432 pages with Index. Scarce dust jacket is quite clean, not price clipped (3.00 on front inside flap), has edge wear, light rubbing, fading to spine background, chips at spine ends; enclosed in new archival quality removable mylar cover. Georges Benjamin Clemenceau was a French statesman who served as Prime Minister of France from 1906 to 1909 and again from 1917 until 1920. These are his memoirs, finished just before his death in November of 1929. The book considers: Clemenceau's relations with Foch and the latter's insubordination, the use of American forces, the mutilation of the Versaille Treaty, an analysis of Germany and its leaders, criticisms of Pershing, Wilson, Lloyd George, Haig, Poincare, and others, and a discussion of the future of America and world politics..
