Soundly bound and generally clean in original pictorial dust jacket with publisher's $3.00 issue price intact on the bottom front corner of the front flap. Dust jacket is haggard with rubbing and wear at edges, a large chip/chunk torn away from the top corner of the front cover and light to moderate soiling to spine and panels. Jacket front flap is corner clipped at top corner, foxed along the top edges of the flaps. Top edge lightly foxed. Contents clean and with no marks. Illustrated with two sections of b&w photos and maps on glossy pape. High point of WWII prisoner anjd escape narratives, and the basis for the 1963 film of the same name. True 1st edition. VG-/G .
