Union Pacific Railroad. The Great National Highway Between the Missouri River and California. The Direct Route to Colorado, Idaho, Utah, Montana, Nevada and California. Open From Omaha to the Mountains. Chicago: Horton & Leonard Book & Job Printers. 1868. Printed yellow wraps. Map on rear cover. 23 cm. Cover title: Omaha to the Mountains. 13 [2 ads] [1blank] pp. Covers worn, split at spine. Repaired with archival tape. In a four-point case with slip case with leather label. Good.

OCLC shows no holdings for this issue. There is a listing for a microform copy but no holdings are indicated. Not to be confused with the more common 12 page issue with the cover title Omaha to California. General promotion for the UPRR in 1868, the line apparently having reached Denver and Laramie. Emphasizes the efficiency of the company and the booming prospects for the Nebraska land its lines traverse. Ends with a two page list of stops for the UP and Wells Fargo & Company's overland mail and stage line. In a custom protective cover.

A very nice copy of Sitgreaves Report. 1853. Senate Exec. Doc. 59. All 79 plates are present and the map is professionally reproduced in full size (27 x 47 inches) and placed in rear pocket. Howes S528; Wagner-Camp 230:1; Graff 3809. A note on collation: it is difficult. It helps to have reference materials and more than one copy. I have both and can guarantee this collates complete. Only condition issue is moderate to heavy foxing in places. That is a common problem with this volume. No prior ownership markings, stamps, or vandalism. In a beautiful modern quarter leather and marbled boards fine binding by Starr Bookworks. A very nice example of this work in fine binding and high quality full size facsimile map to complete the work. Please see scans of the book you will receive.
