Boston: Houghton Mifflin Company, 1936. First Thus . Hardcover. Very good with no dust jacket. Apparently the first edition of this classic with the Houghton Mifflin imprint, and a date code on the copyright page of "635.12". Originally published in 1931 by Ginn & Company. Red cloth on spine is sun faded, with the gilt lettering dulled, but readable. Owner name and date (1937) on front pastedown. Slight separation of front hinge after the title page. Includes many maps and drawings, as well as a few photographs and an index; 525 pages.
