Illustrated with 24 beautiful tipped-in colour plates after pastel drawings by Elliott, mounted onto cream paper and each protected with one plain and also one captioned tissue guard, the title of the illustration printed in red. Decorative chapter initials and headpieces, printed in black and lettered in red, designed by Frank Downey. Blue and white illustrated endpapers. Top edge gilt, others untrimmed. A fine and fresh copy in publishers white vellum binding with illustrations and lettering in gilt to the spine and front board. Some minor creasing to the spine but both the gilt and vellum are still bright and gleaming. Original beige paper dustwrapper, lettered in brown to the spine. A fine book in a near fine dustwrapper with just minimal wear to the extremities. A stunning and fresh copy of this attractive book.
