About This Item

MP3 Audio CD. Johan August Strindberg?s very own classical autobiography and reformation of the spirit of the times at Upsala University and his efforts to be one of the literary artists. The book finishes with the printing of his text The Red Room in 1879. It is the autobiography of a thoughtful soul. He narrates the texts of a few souls like Friedrich Schiller (1788-1805), Christopher Jacob Boström (1797-1866), Soren Kierkegaard (1813-1855) and Henry Thomas Buckle (1821-1862). The origin of the growth of a soul can be often scrawled by having a plain bibliography; for, according to Strindberg, a man who settles in a limited circle and is not willing to meet important men in person, finds to make their colleague through books. It is true that the same books have different responses, nor the same reactions to all, reveals their corresponding inability to transform any person.

Johan August Strindberg was a dramatist, author, poet, essayist and painter from Sweden. He was a well-recognized author who frequently gets his ideas from his life experiences, his literary career spontaneously lasted for four decades, and he had written more than 60 plays and over 30 texts of fiction, autobiography, history, cultural analysis, and politics. He was an established adventurer and cynic all throughout, he discovered a variety of play methods and strategies, from naturalistic tragedy, monodrama, and history plays, to his apprehension of stylish and dreamlike dramatic methods. From one of his primary works, he created new techniques of theatrical action, language and visualization. Strindberg is regarded as the father of today?s Swedish literature and his work, The Red Room in 1879 has often been considered as the first creative Swedish text. In his country, Sweden, he is remarked as an essayist, painter, poet, and of course as an author and playwright, but in several other countries he is known largely as a playwright.
