He later became a deputy marhsal in Indian Territory, sheriff of Lincoln County, Oklahoma, a police chief, and an Oklahoma state senator. He was a lawman for almost 35 years and Bat Masterson called him "the greatest of us all." In addition to serving the law, he was a buffalo hunter, scout, railroad teamster, and rancher. No previous owner marks. Text and photographs clean and bright. Moderate age spotting to top page edges, does not affect the text. Dust jacket is bright and now protected in Mylar.
