Dallas, TX: Univbersity Press in Dallas, Southern Methodis University, 1945. ix, 216 pp., pale yellow cloth w/ orange lettering; Dust jacket in clear archival cover; Book shows some minor soil w/ a little wear to heel of spine; bottom corners of boards bumped w/ small spot worn through on front corner; endpapers show some browning w/ light bends to rear endpaper; title page has 2 very short tears, a small crease & indentation to top edge; one leaf has 2 tiny nicks to fore edge; Dust jacket shows tears, creases & chipping to & near edges w/ 1" piece missing at head of spine & top 1 to 2 inches missing at top of front flap; holes are worn through front & rear flap folds; top 1/4 of rear panel has pieces missing & is torn & creased / "A Book of Selections from the Southwest Review." Writers include: J. Frank Dobie, Paul Horgan, Roark Bradford, Stanley Vestal, John A. Lomax, Alice Marriott, Jesse Stuart, J. Evetts Haley, Frank Goodwyn, Fred Gipson, John William Rogers and Walter P. Webb. The front panel of the book's jacket has the name "Kay Harper" printed to the bottom of the illustration. This is likely personalization added to just this copy when the book was submitted to Ms. Harper for review, as other names have been seen on jackets of this book for a similar reason.
