Textured maroon cloth-covered round-beveled boards (9 1/8 in. x 6 in.) with gilt lettering to spine. Book was specially bound by its former owner, the John Crerar Library at the University of Chicago. Early copy of a classic work by a (then-retired) twentieth-century colonel in the United States Army Medical Corps who was also past Commandant and Professor of Military Surgery at the U.S. Army Medical School, as well as serving in a similar capacity at New York University.
