About This Item

New York: Boni & Liveright, 1922. First edition. Mounted clippings on endleaves and preliminaries browning and obscuring text. 8vo. 322pp. Original cloth-backed printed boards. A curiously extra-illustrated copy, in which an early reader mounted photographs of O'Neill and Louis Wolheim, and clipped reviews, on every page up to page one (tipped at corners so although the title and title verso are covered, the text can be accessed underneath). Included is the dramatis personae for the Provincetown Player's May 1922 staging of 'The Hairy Ape' starring Louis Wolheim. Sanborn and Clark 29.
