A beautifully bound collection of proverbs organized both alphabetically, by nationality and by topics (husbandry, weather, seasons, love, wedlock, women, humour, etc.). Tan-coloured leather-bound boards with five raised bands and gilt lettering on spine. Gilt ruling round edges of boards. Text block is marbelized on edges. Marbelized endpapers. Tight binding. No chips, tears, creases or written inscriptions. Some toning and spotting on covers. Endpapers have foxing. Size: 7" to 7.5" (12mo). 583 pp.
