First edition, wrappers issue, of the collection that won Hecht the Pulitzer Prize. 103 pp. Some surface wear and slight toning to covers. Inscribed in his distinctive calligraphic hand by Leonard Baskin, whose wood-engravings illustrate a section of the book, on the half-title "S. from L." and dated 1969. The first edition is uncommon in any form.
