[Motorcycle Culture] Archive of photographs, pamphlets, and ephemera from the 1930s-50s of motorcycles, particularly Harley Davidsons, and the culture that sprang up around them. There are 20 black and white silver gelatin photos measuring from 4.75" x 6.5" to 1.75" x 1.75". Vintage Photos depict bikers racing in four photos, with one depicting a daring sidecar passenger twisting the cabin to the side and hanging mere inches off the ground. Other racing photos show rural, offroad, and urban racing scenes as well. A set of four photos depict the same group of English men congregating in their leathers outside a motorcycle club rally or race. The types of motorcycles vary from Excelsiors and cafe racers to Harley-Davidsons. Much of the ephemera originates from one man, Melvin Herbolsheimer of Princeton, Illinois during the 1930-50s.
