New York, New York: Harper & Brothers, 1938. First Edition. Original Wraps. Good. Single issue with covers and advertisements. Small quarto, 9 1/2" tall, pages 337 to 448 + ads, printed orange wraps. A good, clean sturdy issue overall, with moderate shelf wear and light exterior soiling front cover, moderate soiling to rear, rubbing and chipping to the spine edges, and foxing to the fore-edges ; internally very good, binding solid, paper lightly yellowed. This is an original issue and includes all of the editorial material (articles, stories, poetry, etc.) as well as the advertisements and covers. Note: ''Harper's Magazine' began publication in 1850 and recreated the American magazine, serving as a promotional vehicle for Harper and Brothers books as well as the new 'literary' fiction and essay of the time. Subject matters range from art, fiction, and poetry to history and science. As such it makes a terrific read as an anthology of its moment in time.
