This 11 1/2" x 7 1/2" album was a Christmas gift to Helen, from Laura in the year 1922. A number of photographs were made before 1922, but most of the pages - at the time - were blank, waiting to be filled with memories, and Helen did.

58 leaves/ 115 pages, 340 photographs. Photographs vary in size, most range 2 1/2" x 4 1/4" and 3 1/4" x 2 1/4". Images are contained in corner tabs and glued to the page.

A couple of news clippings, mention Miss Helen Walper - "of East Mine Street [Harrisburg, Pennsylvania], a stenographer for the Hooven Mercantile Co." and her vacations of note.

Helen Walper had an unmistakable love for the water, and unwavering appreciation for her family and friends. Throughout, are photographs documenting travels to Lake Nuangola, along the Susquehanna River, the Hudson River, Niagara Falls, Lake Ontario, Rockaway Beach, Ocean Beach, Bear Mountain. She can be seen paddling a canoe, picking sea shells by the sea shore, splashing in the ocean, and standing on the boardwalk.

When Helen traveled to New York in 1924, she took photos with the Statue of Liberty, and off the skyline of New York City from inside the head of the Statue.

Each page of this album is dated (at least the year is provided). Some pages are hand-decorated, as is the page that contains children is costumes also has doodles of clowns. The page of photographs taken after a snowstorm in 1923, is covered with white marks to represent snow falling. And, many photos have witty captions, such as: two women sitting on wall: "Wall Flowers", or on a fence: "Looks like we're "on the fence"; pictured alone: "Lonesome - that's all." Other pages titled: "Our Gang Comedies", "Bathing Beauties", etc.

The first two pages are detached and it looks like a couple of more in the beginning are missing. Some of the writing is lightly smudged. Three photos appear to be missing. There is one photograph, the earliest photo.
