Moderate tanning to spine, which has mild crushing to ends. Moderate water stains to boards. Book has forward lean. Boards are mildly warped.

There is a portrait frontispiece of a woman, but the signature underneath, in Roman script, doesn't look at all like the author's name. Loosely inserted Key to Principal Characters. Hard Cover. Good Plus/Fairly Good.

Moscow: Foreign Language Pub, 1953. First edn in English. 8vo, Pp. 622. Fine in dj. Frontis. portrait. Galina Yevgenyevna Volyanskaya (1911-1963) wrote under the psudonym Galina Nikolayeva. She was an army physician in WWII and won the 1950 Stalin Prize for her first novel. In 1951 she won the State Prize in Literature. The present work tells the story of the Soviet village of Kolkhoz in WWII.

This book won the Stalin Prize in 1950. Three parts complete in one volume, the story tells of a struggling state farming community and its battle to improve with the help of the Communist System. Author pseudonym for Galina Yevgenyevna Volyanskaya
