About This Item

143 pages with tables, diagrams and bibliography. Octavo (8 1/4" x 5 1/2") bound in original publisher's pictorial wrappers. First edition. The 13th Christmas Congress held in 1932-33 was the first Hastings tournament in which all of the game scores were preserved. Complete records of the seven tournaments held prior to World War II, beginning with the famous 1932-33 event, are now made available for the first time. Many of the famous and instructive games which were played at Hastings during the 1932-1939 period are annotated in this book, often by the players themselves. Especially noteworthy is the 1936-1937 tournament, for which no tournament book has previously been published. Condition: Old price sticker to front wrapper else near fine.
