Author's first play, which ran on Broadway for 389 performances, 1955/56, starring Ben Gazzara & Shelley Winters in the leading roles. Their photos appear on the cover of the book here, as well as on the title page & in still photos from the production thru the 177 pages of text. Subsequently made into a film & TV movie, nominated for several awards on both. A FIRST EDITION, first printing, from 1956, this hardcover small 8vo (5.5" x 8.25") in gray textured cloth over boards. Condition is Near Fine: very clean & bright, binding straight & strong, pages creamy white with just a hint of tanning. Former owner's name in pen to ffep. Mild rubbing to extremities & pushing to both ends of spine/bumped corners. The unclipped DJ (with $2.95 price intact on front flap) is also VG+, with slight chipping & paper loss to both ends of spine, all-over tanning, minor rubbing; nicely protected in new mylar cover Free!
