Preface; foreword; introduction; bibliography; glossary; index. Illustrated with 123 photo illustrations and a couple charts. Bound in dark green cloth with lettering stamped in gilt on spine. A disciple of the great yoga master Balak Bharat, Goswami (1891-1978) founded the Goswami Institute of Yoga in Sweden, the first yoga institute in that country. He explains traditional yogic methods of fasting and internal cleansing, practices to strengthen the endocrine system, methods for advanced sexual control, breath control practices, and concentration exercises to improve mind power, using his education in ancient Sanskrit works and drawing on thousands of years of oral teachings. Hatha yoga classic moves beyond the introductory level of yoga, using illustrated instructions for advanced asanas and other techniques to build strength, stamina, and good posture -- a necessary prerequisite for spiritual development. Abergavenny Church. Original hand coloured aquatint etching. Drawn and Engraved by J Cullum. Ca 1840. Sheet and plate size 265mm x 205mm including blank border of 15mm and title Now known as St Marys this Priory was a Monastery of Benedictine or Black Monks, founded in the reign of Henry I between 1100 and 1135. Abergavenny Church is recorded in the poem The Worthiness of Wales written near the end of the 16th Century, by Thomas Churchyard who toured Wales in 1586. This poem, dedicated to Her Most Excellent Majesty, Queen Elizabeth, gives much information respecting the Church and the Monuments. The poem was first published in 1587 and reprinted in 1776. Extensive alterations took place in 1828 and Cathedral and Church architect Gilbert Scott was to comment in 1874 "Few Churches have suffered from decay and injudicious repair than this." Information regarding the alternations would suggest this aquatint was completed after the alternations, the leaded roof replaced by slates being the most…

Description:
This book is in good condition. There is some wear on the front, back, spine, edges and corner of the cover. There is some dog-earring on the right corner pages of the book. The pages are white, crisp and clear of any markings. "This is a history of the visual arts produced in the geographical area that now constitutes the United States. Such a book is difficult to title. A History of United States Art sounds awkward and logically might even be construed to exclude the arts of the colonial period. Thus, with apologies to our northern and southern neighbors, I use the title A History of American Art, knowing full well that the terms America and the United States are not synonymous...." - Preface from A History of American Art
